Spouse Love Caramel? 2 Delicious Things You Can Make For Them At Home

Posted on

You can find caramel in many different forms, such as candies, melted caramel over ice cream, and in pies and cakes. If your spouse loves caramel, there are many things you can make for them at home that they will love. Below are two recipes to help you get started.

Easy Peasy Caramel Pie

You will be shocked at how easy this caramel pie is to make. The only ingredients you need for this pie is:

  • 2 cans sweetened condensed milk
  • Graham cracker crust
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Whipped topping

Remove the labels from the sweetened condensed milk cans. Get a large pot and sit the cans inside. Fill the pan up with water until the cans are completely submerged. Put the pot on the stove and boil the cans and water. You will need to let them boil for approximately three hours. You will have to add water often, as the cans have to always stay completely submerged.

After they are finished boiling, carefully remove the cans from the pot. You can use a large pair of tongs for this, or carefully pour the water out and then use a hot pad to remove the cans. Let the cans sit for about 20 minutes. After this time, you will need to remove the lid. Do this slowly as caramel will seep out of the can as you do so.

Use a spoon to stir the caramel in the cans to remove the lumps. Pour each can into a graham cracker shell crust and use the back of a spoon to smooth out the caramel. Put the pie in refrigerator for a few hours or until the caramel has completely cooled down.

Put the whipped topping over the caramel, and then sprinkle mini chocolate chips over the topping. The pie is now ready to serve to your spouse.

Simple Caramel Covered Marshmallows

If your spouse also likes marshmallows, you can cover them up with caramel to give them two treats in one. There are many versions of this recipe but the one below is likely the easiest and quickest way to make this yummy treat. The ingredients you will need to make this recipe include:

  • 1 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 14-ounce package of caramel candies
  • 1/2 cup of cubed stick butter
  • 16-ounce package of large marshmallows

You will need a double boiler to make this recipe. If you do not have one, you can place a metal bowl over slightly boiling water. In the double boiler or metal bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, caramel candies, and butter and stir until the ingredients are completely smooth.  Remove the boiler from the stove. Remove the marshmallows from the bag and set them out next to the caramel sauce. Cover a cookie sheet with foil. Stab one marshmallow with a fork, and quickly dip it into the hot caramel mixture.

Hold the marshmallow over the bowl for a few seconds so excess caramel can drip off. Place the caramel covered marshmallow on the foil lined cookie sheet. Do this for however many marshmallows you want to make.

When you are finished, place the pan in the refrigerator for approximately one hour to set the caramel. After this time, put the marshmallows in an airtight container and put them in your refrigerator until you are ready to eat them.
